Gucci is the latest brand to design an eco-friendly shoe line as part of their pre-fall 2012 collection. The shoes will be made from biodegradable plastic instead of leather or suede. The project is part of Gucci’s ongoing commitment to the Copenhagen Fashion Summit, the world’s most important conference on sustainability and fashion.
The eco shoes will only come in two styles, one for men and one for women. The women’s Marola Green ballerina flats come in blush, taupe and black and feature the GG motif and cute cutout detail, while the men’s California Green sneakers are either low or hi-top with biologically certified strings and rhodum-plated metal details.
The shoes will be available at the end of June at Gucci stores and online.
